A small-town Buckley doctor who in 1982, witnessed the removal of Burlington Northern Railroad’s tracks running through the city and envisioned a trail for community health and connectivity. He convened the first Foothills Trail Coalition planning meetings and is widely recognized as the “Father of the Foothills Trail”, generating public and local government support for the trail and leading early corridor acquisitions. Doc Tait celebrated the long awaited first mile of the Foothills Trail opening in Buckley in 1992. The Doc Tait Pavilion, adjacent to the Foothills Trailhead in Buckley, honors his vision, shares the history of the Foothills Trail and provides information about future trail growth and connections.
