Chuck was an early trail advocate who worked on the ground in Pierce County communities to build support for the Foothills Trail. His interest and knowledge of railroad history, passion to connect communities by trails and love for wild places motivated Chuck’s work with the Coalition. He was involved in trail planning, building and maintenance efforts, with several Trail Line issues thanking him for his consistent volunteer work. Chuck’s tireless efforts helped lay the groundwork for expanding the trail eastward, with the ultimate goal of connecting the Foothills Trail through the Carbon Canyon to Mt. Rainier National Park.
